How long is forever?
It was the first day back to school for Moonie and it had taken every single muscle in her body
and as much energy as she had to get up early sunrise this morning.
"♪ Keep rockin' and keep knockin'. Whether you Louboutin it up or Reebok'n"
She rolled over and groaned as she went to put her alarm on snooze.
25 minutes later after the 5th time her alarm went off, she decided it was time to get up and deal with her gayed up highschool life at Glenunga, what a drag. She took a shower and got ready.
On the way to school, she thought to herself, "Well atleast Krystal and Nikola is there to make her shit hole highschool life all worth while". She had missed them quite a bit after 3 weeks.
She had a lot to tell Krystal and she knew Krystal had a lot to tell her.
She also actually took the effort to get up this morning because one of her bestest friends, Oliver who had moved to America for grid iron, was coming to see her after a long and lonely year and a bit. He was back in Adelaide to see everyone but he was heading back later in the afternoon.
8.49AM, she was late for homegroup. She dodged Mr. Marino and power walked to her classroom. The door was locked. Mr. Gay Busman had locked the door for the late-comers now. AKA, Moonie. She was always late and he always picked on her. She really wants to stab him. He lectured her and then made her sign in even though she was 4 minutes late. She didn't sign in anyway.
First lesson - Studies of Society with Nikola. One word, fucken-boring-as-shit.
Second lesson - World of Food with Krystal. Bludge.
Third lesson - Writing for Literature and Film with Krystal.
The teacher screamed his head off at Moonie and everyone was shit scared.
Fourth Lesson - Child studies with Lucy. Gay and annoying.
Last lesson - Dyke P.E with the girls. Almost fell asleep.
After school, Moonie wasn't sure if Oliver was gonna come,
so she headed for town to get her quilts on her wishlist.
After she was finished, she got a phone call from Summer.
When she picked up a male voice asked her where she was.
Right away she knew it was Oliver's voice.
Something she hadn't heard for a whole year.
She was filled with joy and waited for Oliver and the rest to come meet with her.
After 5 minutes of anxious waiting, she caught a glimpse of Oliver walking towards her.
She ran to him with arms wide open and a big smile.
As soon as he wrapped his big arms around her, he whispered "I've missed you".
She almost cried with tears of joy, until she found out he was leaving in 2 hours.
She bought him lunch and sat with him along with Krystal, Lucy, Summer, Ria, Monique, Adam.
Olivers best mate, Jacob and a few others came and joined them after a bit aswell.
They sat and talked about how life was without each other for a whole year.
After which seemed like only 10 minutes Jacob looked at the time and said Oliver had to go.
Moonie looked at Oliver with tear-filled eyes. Oliver looked back at her,
took her hand in his and said, "Moonie, I will miss you, you know I will and I'll never stop".
She blushed and smiled and then said, "I'll take you to the airport".
Walking to the tram stop, Oliver held her hand and they were swinging it back and forth,
happy because they were glad they were next to each other.
They ran to the tram and by the time they got to Wayville,
it was dark and Moonie had no way home. So they said their goodbyes there.
Oliver hugged her in his big arms and gave her a kiss goodbye,
"I love you, girl" he whispered. Then ran off because he was late for his flight.
Moonie stood there holding back tears as she watched him run into the dark with Jacob.
She turned around and headed to the opposite platform to wait for the tram back to the city.
On the way home, all she could think about was the next time they would see each other again. Oliver said he would be back next year, but she didn't want to wait another year.
She slowly walked home in the dark, feeling so lonely and empty inside.
She wished Oliver had never left for America and was with her to fight off the scary dark shadows lurking behind her. She knows another whole year without Oliver will be as shit as it was last year and things will never be the same until he is back. Even if it's another 365 days,
Moonie will miss Oliver and think of him every night like she did everyday last year.
